Chapter 139 An Eye For An Eye, Some Money For A Sweaty Jersey

Kai stared at the 500 Yuan bill in his hands and smiled widely. He was now dressed in his basketball jersey, but he still felt the ghost sensation of the itchy sequins that were embedded into his dress earlier.Find adventures at empire

Nonetheless, it was all worth it since he got the 500 Yuan that he had been hoping for.

It definitely wasn't enough to buy the kind of shoes that Yuze and his other teammates wore, but it was still better than nothing. He could now buy something from their local store in preparation for their game on Sunday!

"Kai! Stop staring at your money and help us with the final preparations," Yuze said, making him snap out of his thoughts.

He quickly placed the 500 Yuan in his pocket and helped remove the large cloth that covered the makeshift ring that they had created.

At this point, the cheerleading team and football team were already bursting with customers, yet Kai paid them no attention since he was the most excited about their booth.

"Let's go!" Lina exclaimed as soon as the pink spectacle was shown to the public.

People stopped and stared, amazed at the paintings that adorned the ring. However, it wasn't enough to make them approach their booth and actually play.

"Join us for a shooting game! The person who achieves 30 shots in one minute will get an exciting prize!" Lina exclaimed, causing some boys to go to their booth.

Kun smiled at the bunch of first-year students who obviously took up the challenge because of Lina.

"5 Yuan for each try!" Kun said, and the students paid while glancing at Lina.

Zeren was a bit upset about it, but since they were their first customers, he shut his mouth and decided to swallow his jealousy.

They started shooting, and it was obvious that they didn't know how to play basketball at all.

In the end, the group of three boys was only able to score 10 points as a collective, yup—as a collective and not individually.

Then, after a while, they were able to enjoin more people—especially those who admired Yuze.

After Kun announced that they could also win a kiss on the cheek from Yuze if they shot 20 baskets, a great number of girls went to their booth to give it a try.

Yuze wanted to argue, but Kun stayed by his side and assured him that nobody would be able to do it anyway.

In the end, Kun was right. After what seemed to be ten girls, nobody was still able to clear the objective.

All in all, their booth moved at a steady pace. However, Kai knew that if they wanted to overcome the Shizi Snakes, then they needed to do something more...explosive.

Kai also noted that he wouldn't be able to accomplish his mission if things kept going at the same pace.

So, with that, he tried to find something—anything that would encourage more people to try out their booth.

Kai wandered his eyes around. Just then, his eyes caught something that would actually help his team fulfill their objective.

Fabin, who appeared to be lost, looked around the garden and continued

Fabin paused for a while, not believing what he was hearing, before he burst into chuckles.

He placed his hand on Kai's back and patted him.

"If you want to compete with us, then just win the game with the Feng Foxes. We'll meet in the finals," Fabin said, although it seemed like he didn't believe the Shizi Dogs would be able to beat the Feng Foxes.

"Are you chickening out?" Kai asked, knowing that hurting his pride would make him crumble the fastest.

As expected, Fabin narrowed his eyes at Kai, not liking how he was being challenged.

"You and me," Kai continued. "One minute each. The player with the most shots will win."

"Look, bud. You don't have a chance," Fabin smiled.

"Then, that's all the more reason why you should accept the challenge, right?"

Fabin couldn't deny that he was intrigued. He wasn't in the mood to play with an amateur player, but Kai was taunting him too well.

"What do I get if I win?" Fabin asked, not liking the idea of playing for free.

Kai smirked and brought something out of his pocket.

"500 Yuan," he answered.

Fabin's eyebrows shot up in surprise.

Alright...Fabin was most definitely interested now.

"And you?" Fabin asked. "What do I have to wager? I don't have that amount of money on me right now."

"I don't need money," Kai said.

"I only need that," he pointed to the blue cloth in Fabin's hand.

Fabin frowned in confusion.

"Max's jersey?"
