Business Development Manager at SGI-DNA
Preferably based in Germany, the role of the Business Development Manager is to ensure sales objectives are met with in the designated territory. You are expected to develop and execute sales plans and forecast sales for the portfolio of products including services, reagents, software, and instruments as well as predict order inflow for the territory and provide market and competitor activities from the field. You are expected to do instrument demonstrations at customer sites.
Co-develop and execute Key Account activities and programs to foster ongoing adoption of current and emerging technologies for BioXp 3200
Take initiative in the Business Development activities when appropriate, nurture pull through with existing user base
Run development projects to further potential products and services available through the BioXp Platform
Troubleshooting of molecular biology processes including assembly, cloning, transformations etc.
Install, maintain, train, troubleshoot and support equipment on all levels (hardware, software and applications).
Maintain and develop positive relationships with customers. Utilize relevant databases to input and provide information that will increase effectiveness
Utilize all available tools such as Service Reports, Operating manuals and etc.
Achieve sales quota
Manage effective available time and resources
Provide cross-border support when required
Will require work with hazardous substances such as acids and solvents and to work in biological laboratories.
Requires good computer skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with the guidance of R&D.
Ability to quickly troubleshoot complex biology/instrument issues.
Ph.D. or Masters Biomedical/Biology or similar degree, support experience in a comparable position within the after-sales service business in the life science market, or equivalent experience in application support and maintaining instrumentation in Life Sciences
Business acumen and flair to engage with wide range of customer profiles to convert a technical discussion into sales
Experience in installing, demonstrating and troubleshooting instruments is required; experience with fluid handling robots a plus.
Strong molecular biology background, knowledge of cloning, DNA synthesis technologies, antibody and or protein engineering workflows.
Experience dealing with Gene Synthesis is required
Highly proficient sales and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple high value, long sales cycle business opportunities simultaneously.
High motivation and energy level to develop new business
Fluent in English, German is mandatory- additional languages would be an asset
Excellent oral presentation skills required
Extensive travel required (up to 80%)
A sales or sales support history is a plus
